Litigation

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."  We agree with the wise words of Dr. King.  We take our client’s quest for justice seriously.  In our system, accomplishing justice requires care, zeal, and wisdom.  With fifteen years of experience (ten devoted almost exclusively to litigation) we have the skills you need in the courtroom, at trial, in mediation, in arbitration, and in the appeals courts.  We have experience with very large (multimillion dollar) cases and small cases that are very important to the people involved.

If you need a zealous advocate on your side, contact us.

Trust & Estate Disputes

Trustees and personal representatives are fiduciaries.  They owe duties to all the beneficiaries the trust, or estate, they manage.  They are required to share information and proceed in a timely manner.  We have represented trustees and beneficiaries.  Washington has tough laws when it comes to elder abuse, and the inheritance rights of people accused of taking advantage of elderly people.  We have represented clients in estate and trust disputes, including undue influence, lack of capacity (to make a conveyance or sign an estate document), self-dealing, fraud, theft, elder abuse cases, and creditors' claims.

If you have found yourself in an estate or trust dispute, we understand.

Personal Injury

By and large, insurance companies look out for the bottom line.  That means making money for their shareholders.  Sometimes profit comes at the expense of injured people.  Fortunately Washington has tough laws when it comes to insurance companies dealing with claims from their own customers (such as the Insurance Fair Conduct Act).  This means property issues (vehicle repairs) and some medical bills (under personal injury protection coverage) are often paid without hassle.

The bulk of claims for bodily injury, though, are against the insurance company of the person at fault (in a motor vehicle accident the person that hit you).  It is more difficult in these cases to obtain fair compensation.  We have obtained great results for our clients (both through the Insurance Fair Conduct Act, and against the insurance company of the at fault person).

If you have been injured, it is important to begin preserving your rights from the beginning.  Give us a call.

Business Disputes

Sometimes, even when people have "gotten their stories straight," they have left behind a trail of evidence that tells another story.  We happily provide our clients a thorough and careful review of the documentary evidence, including contracts, emails, and accounting records.  We know your business is your livelihood.  We will handle your case with the care and dedication that you deserve.

If you need to enforce an agreement, or protect your rights, give us a call to find out how we can help you.

Real Estate Disputes

The rule of thumb in Washington when it comes to real estate is get it in writing.  Even though our statute of frauds is rigorous, and requires written documents in many instances, the devil is in the details.  And many contract terms that appeared unambiguous when drafted become unclear in the face of an actual dispute.

We have helped clients with many real estate disputes, including boundary disputes, title issues, easement disputes, road easements, home owner association rules, condominium issues, title issues, railroad easements, commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements, deed warranties, disputes with realtors, undisclosed defects, seller misrepresentations, specific performance, purchase options.

If you have found yourself in a real estate dispute, call us to protect your rights.
